Terms of Use
Effective 22 August 2026
Plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. If something here is unclear, ask us at [email protected].
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and the developer of Glade (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Glade you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Because Glade is distributed through Apple's App Store, Apple's own terms also apply, and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies where it conflicts with anything here. Apple is not a party to this agreement, but is a third-party beneficiary of it and may enforce it.
2. Your content is yours
Everything you save in Glade — links, notes, images, files — remains entirely yours. We claim no ownership, no licence, and no right to use it.
We also have no access to it. As described in the privacy policy, your content lives on your devices and in your own iCloud account. There is no Glade server holding it.
The one exception is a grove you choose to publish to Discover, which is covered in Discover, and what you publish.
Because of that, we cannot recover your content for you. If you delete it, or lose access to your Apple ID, we have no copy. Use Settings → Your data → Export to keep your own backups.
3. Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google, or use Glade as a guest. You are responsible for keeping access to that account secure. If you lose it, you lose access to the data associated with it, and we cannot restore it. A guest's data exists only on that device; if the device is lost or erased, so is the data.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13.
4. Acceptable use
Glade is a private tool, so this list is short. Do not use it to:
- Store or share anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to store or share.
- Infringe someone else's copyright or other rights.
- Attempt to breach, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the app or the services it runs on.
- Share a grove in a way that harasses or endangers someone.
We cannot see what you save, so enforcement is limited to what is reported to us or to Apple. Where we can act on a credible report, we may.
5. Sharing groves
When you share a grove, you decide who is invited and what they may do. You are responsible for what you share and who you share it with.
Sharing runs on Apple's CloudKit, between your iCloud account and theirs. We do not host, see, or moderate shared content.
6. Discover, and what you publish
Discover shows groves that people have chosen to publish. Publishing is off by default, and is turned on one grove at a time.
What you may publish
You keep ownership of everything you publish. By publishing a grove you give us permission to show it to other people using Glade — nothing more, and only for as long as it stays published.
Do not publish:
- anything unlawful, hateful, or that harasses or threatens someone
- sexually explicit material, or anything involving minors in a sexual way
- spam, scams, malware, or links whose purpose is to deceive
- someone else's private information
- work you have no right to share
You are responsible for what you publish. A published grove is not something we have reviewed in advance.
Reporting, and what we do about it
Every published grove can be reported from inside the app. We look at every report within 24 hours and remove anything that breaks the rules above.
We may remove a published grove, or stop an account from publishing, without notice where something is clearly abusive. Removing a published grove never touches the private original on your own devices.
You can also block someone from inside Discover, which hides everything they publish from you immediately, on that device.
Taking it down
Turn publishing off for a grove and the public copy is deleted, along with the sunlight it was given. There is no waiting period, and we keep no separate copy.
7. Paid features
Glade is free to use with limits. Glade Pro removes them, as an auto-renewing subscription or a one-time purchase.
- Apple is the merchant. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Apple holds your payment method and issues your receipt.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings.
- The one-time purchase does not renew.
- Any free trial's unused portion is forfeited if you buy a subscription during it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
We may change prices for future purchases. A change never affects a subscription period you have already paid for, and you will be told before a renewal at a new price.
8. Free-plan limits
The free plan's limits are shown in the app and may change. If we ever lower a limit, anything you have already saved stays — a change would only affect what you can add next.
9. Availability
Glade depends on Apple's iCloud and App Store for sync, sharing and purchases. Those are outside our control, and interruptions to them will interrupt those features.
The app itself is provided as-is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, though we try, and we would rather hear about a problem than not.
10. Ending it
You can stop using Glade at any time, and delete everything with Settings → Your data → Delete account.
We may suspend access in the rare case of a serious or repeated breach of section 4. Since your data is in your own iCloud account, that does not delete anything you have saved.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death, personal injury, or fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You may also have consumer rights that these terms cannot override. Nothing here affects them.
12. Changes
If these terms change, the effective date above changes with them, and the current version is always at tryglade.app/terms. Continuing to use Glade after a change means accepting it.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Ukraine have jurisdiction — except where the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which it may.
